Asia has an incredibly high diversity of plants. The flora of temperate Asia, e.g. China, Korea and Japan, comprises the largest number of species when compared with all other temperate regions of the world, and the tropical Asian flora is the most species-rich. The plant diversity of Asia is an ideal focus for evolutionary studies, biogeographical analysis, informatics, phylogenetics and systematics. This symposium aims to review current research on various aspects of Asian plant diversity, with emphasis on the use of modern approaches and techniques. The symposium will include six symposium sessions and one poster session.

All participants are welcome to contribute posters to the poster session. Posters must deal with any topics related to Asian plant diversity and systematics. Deadline for abstract submission is 16th May 2004. Abstracts may not be more than 350 words. Please submit your abstract online.
IAPT, JSPS, JSP, and SSSB Poster Prizes
The Poster Session is one of the most important events in the Symposium, and participants are encouraged to contribute poster presentations on any topic of Asian plant diversity and systematics. IAPT, JSPS, JSP (Japanese Society of Phycology), SSSB (The Society for the Study of Species Biology) will be happy to award the IAPT, JSPS, JSP, and SSSB Poster Prizes for the best poster contribution. They will be selected among posters presented in the Symposium by the IAPT, JSPS, JSP, and SSSB Poster Prize Selection Committees on the criteria of relevance to the symposium theme, scientific significance and novelty, and poster design quality.
FAQ for poster session
In the excursion, we will go to Nikko by chartered bus. We are planning to make a tour of the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, and the Nikko Botanical Garden, etc. in the field trip. You might be able to feel the Japanese history and the nature.
